Delegation of activities and responsibilities can be challenging, particularly with new or remote team members. Ensuring everyone knows what is required of them when it is required and informed of progress can be stressful. Particularly if your understanding of ‘done’ and theirs is different.
With Hydi you can create a template that outlines how things should be done in as much detail as you need. Each activity can have documents, images and videos attached to it to ensure those less familiar with the activity understand exactly what is expected of them without these support getting in the way of those fully aware of what is required.
Outcomes from earlier activity can also be threaded into future activities as resources ensuring that every activity is self-contained without any need to reference a central repository of information or manage the security settings that often prohibit collaboration between people inside and outside the organisation.
We knew we had the right idea when during the build process we were annoyed that we could not use Hydi to help us with the process. So as soon as we could we started using Hydi for more and more things. We found some of our favourite uses were the things we didn’t do as often, such as onboarding new staff.
The inspiration would come from forgetting a step or needed to find a reference document. Rather than repeat the problem the next time, we created a Hydi template for it and enriched it with the relevant instructions and resources. We then found that we could delegate more things, reducing bottlenecks and increasing reliability. Then by proactively asking for feedback on how easy the processes were to follow we could improve them – so we were making best practice even better.
